Another viewpoint about Coriolis Effect

Local Weather Forecasts or Instruments

Somehow many are still confused by what this all means.

Perhaps this next statement may help you understand better.

While we are standing still, we are in motion. moving eastward at a great speed.

Unnoticeable to us as we are moving right along with everything else,

Picture two passenger trains traveling in the same direction and at the same speed.

We can look out at the other train and see people sitting, standing, and walking. but not in any way different than ourselves.

We appear to be in two nonmoving conveyances.

To try to toss something to someone in the other car would show that it would curve off in the direction opposite our movement.

As soon as the object is released, even though projected towards the other car, it also loses motion in the direction of travel, as it is no longer part of the motion of travel.

We stay still from our perspective but without attachment to the moving object, the unattached will not move as fast and will appear to head away in a curve.

What we are actually seeing is ourselves moving away from the no longer attached object.

The object did not change, we moved away from it.

It’s all perspective!
